There are three options when you are going to save files from backup results, the internal storage on the router, cloud storage, or the computer’s local hard disk.

The backup feature can be accessed via the File menu, to maintain data security. We strongly recommend that the backup file is given a password and encryption. Maintaining is better than repairing.

3. Keep Password

Generally, the save password feature or keep password will be active by default in the WinBox MikroTik configuration. This feature field will be checked to save passwords to the list. These passwords are stored in a file named settings.cfg.viw or in WinBox’s AppData/Roaming directory.

For those of you who have forgotten the MikroTik Router password, please open the Tools menu > Export Address > select a folder to save the export file > Save > Open the file with Notepad > After that WinBox login data will appear in a certain text format.

4. Export and Import

As the name suggests, this feature allows us to retrieve the results of the settings from proxy A to proxy B. This will make it easier for you when you have a new router and don’t want to configure it from scratch again. Through the Export command, you can edit the export results and adapt them to the new router, then transfer them with the Import command.

5. Dashboards

The dashboard feature will make it easy for users to monitor various things on the router. Some of the information that can be displayed on the dashboard feature includes Time (time on the router), Date (date on the router), CPU Usage (router CPU usage information), Memory (consumption or free RAM on the router), and Uptime Router (duration or the time the router is running).
